Abu Nawas : Riddle

One day, the Caliph Harun al-Rashid asked Abu Nawas to come up with a riddle that would stump the entire court. Abu Nawas agreed and thought for a moment before reciting the following riddle:

"I am not alive, but I grow;
I don't have lungs, but I need air;
I don't have a mouth, but I need water to survive.
What am I?"

The court was stumped, and no one could figure out the answer. Finally, Abu Nawas revealed the answer: "Fire."

The Caliph and the court were amazed by Abu Nawas's cleverness and rewarded him with a large sum of money.
